get a Seagate 7200.7 IDE 200 gig for $75

or

save some more cash and get a Maxtor 16mb cache 200 gig SATA for $100?

its primarily for storing music/movie files and a few games

How do you save money if the Seagate costs $75 and the Maxtor costs $100?

edit: okay, I reread that sentence and now it makes sense. :D

If just for storing files, the Seagate would be fine enough.

Yeah, I'd recommend the seagate too since its primary use, as you said, will be the storing of music and movies. Even ATA100 IDE is fast enough for that, you should be fine. It depends on what kinds of games you're putting on it, though. If you wanted to put tons of games on it I'd suggest the SATA.
