My current setup has one 74gb raptor, two 250gb maxtors, and one 300gb seagate. The 300gb Seagate I got a couple months ago. Few days after plugging it in, I noticed SpeedFan SMART tab reported the fitness of the Seagate at 50%. Performance is at 100%. All other drives are 100% for both. Did I just get a bad drive?
Is there a better program I should use that will tell me more information about what's wrong with my drive? Should I RMA this thing sometime soon? I just don't want it to die on me... lots of backups and video recordings on this drive
also, I've been wondering what the difference between the 5 wire SATA PSU power connector, and the 4 wire SATA power adapters. Obviously the adapters don't have 3.3v, but does it really matter? What's the benefit of having 3.3v for hard drive?
edit: is there any difference between the molex connector or the SATA power adapter on drives that have both connectors?
