I've been with my current processor since Core 2 came out, it's the x6800 oc'd to ~3.46ghz. I have a birthday coming up and my girlfriend asked what I wanted. My question is, should I get the Q9650 now or wait to get a new i7 with a new build down the road. I'm not looking at a new build until around the new year, will this cpu hold up until then?

Any opinions / advice would be appreciated!
