i currently have a 74gb raptor and 2x300gb maxtor 16mb cache drives .. all sata ..

im selling my 74gb raptor and ordering a 150gb raptor ..

should i sell my current 2x300gb maxtors for a 500gb hitachi ? ..
or is it not worth putting out the extra money ?

they are just storage drives

If its just storage drives, why bother!
You have 2 x 300gb drives versus 1 x 500gb.
Thats 100gbs more storage
Thats also faster search times and l can imagin a faster Defrag also.

they arent in raid 0 .. just single drives ..

so i guess ill keep em .. just ordered a 150gb raptor to replace my 74gb one

thanks

Unless you're running out of ports or have another real reason other than simply consolidation, I really don't see any reason. Plus with the 2x300gb drives you can still do a bit of manual redundancy of important files using one to back-up some files on the other (although that shouldn't be reguarded as a archive backup, an outside of system backup is still recomended.)
