Hey guys. I finally bought myself a 8x dvd burner, its from pacific digital. The dilemia is that i just recently reloaded my computer about 2 weeks ago but i want to install this burner. Is it neccesary to reload your computer after i install my dvd burner? Thanks.
 
Not at all.

Usually you only have to re-format/re-install when you change major hardware, such as primary hard drive, motherboard and sometimes processors.

You shouldn't have to worry about reformating simply for an optical drive. Just, enjoy it. :cool:

Just not when the computer is turned on. :p Plug n Pray that way... it still could work.... but thats another discussion.
 
you mean reinstalled the OS I assume

see the Optimizing Physical Configuration section of the Partitioning and Optimizing Tutorial in the Data Storage FAQ

and while it doesnt spell out the specifics of how you set jumpers and identify channels, you should be able to figure that out from the instructions included with the drive ;)
