Well, I purchased a 7600GT off newegg for $113 (BFG, SLI, 2dvi out), but now, I got it, and Am wandering.. should I return it ( I would have to pay to ship it back, but no restocking fee), and pay $47 more for a 7900GS? I think that card looks good,. Or am I being too picky, and will by 7600GT handle any game at a respectable rate? I would like to have high framefrates, but I am not sure if there is enough differnece to justify almost 50 bucks.

\Oh, and part of the other reason I want to do this is that the new 7900gs is evga, w/ has a "trade up" plan, were you can trade your old video card in for a new higher model, and pay the difference. in case a year down the road I want the new on.
Is there any other card you can reccomend for my budget (about $ $160), perhaps any card that comess witha free bonus, like a game or something :D.

Is it nessecary? I will be running either dual 17in moinitors, or a single 22in monitor (still havent decided).

When gaming I'll only use a single 17 in (o r the 22in if I get it)) and don't need the Highest settings, just mid-high. I want at least 60 fps out of this baby in games like:
Fear, HL2, RollerCoaster tycoon3 (don't laugh, i love that game!), and CouS Source.

Will the 7600gt pull this? or for that matter, will the 7900gs do this.

Somone posted they knew of a 7900GTX for ~$200, that sounds like a bargain, but I can't find it anywhere.

My reasoning is: It's only $47, and a pretty big performance gap.

I'm sure the 7600 GT would be fine in those games on a 17" monitor, but "it's only $47".

well you can get it for $138OTD after using the 12% coupon they sent out so it's only $35 more (+ shipping 7600gs back). So I'd def get it for the 40-45 difference. I picked one up for my cousins computer and it's hella nice. It's very similar performance compared to my 7900gt (stock) and that's saying a lot. The GT can handle 99.9% of games perfectly fine so $40 is def a bargain steppin from a 7600 to a 7900gs.

edit; you said EVGA? Where did you see an 7900gs evga for $150?

I'd say to go for it. I was thinking originally of doing a 7600GT SLI setup, but realized a 7900GS SLI setup would be much better. I'm upgrading mainly because I now have a Samsung 225BW and pushing 1680x1050 is stressing my 6600GT.

I think that the Step-Up Plan is only good for 90 days after card purchase.

correct
..or was it after you registered it ..hmm

I registered an eVga 7900gtx vidcard and it immediately told my I had like 18days to "upgrade" if I wanted to take advantage of it .. so I guess its not from when you register the card ...but I bought it from a guy here on [H] so I guess I really dont know ..lol
:p

If you do decide to upgrade, will you be selling the 6600gt? if so I am definitley intertested.

I'm not sure, yet. It might end up in my sister's machine along with my current motherboard and processor. Car problems are putting a hold on that, though. Oi!
