It seems so many people are having trouble with the 7.12 drivers artifacting and such, tomorrow when i install my new 3850 should i just get 7.11? Or are those problems only a select few who are getting them.

here is my thoughts on 7.12: I lost 400 points in 3dmark06 installing this driver, HL2 EP2 seemed a little laggy from it, so I reverted back to 7.11 and all is well again. I did not have any desktop color issue like what people are reporting with 7.12, but maybe I got lucky.... I personally would stick with 7.11 until the newer 8.1 driver shows up next month.

Running catalyst 7.12 since the release, upgraded from 7.11, ATi HD3870, running perfectly fine, actually gave me a few more fps in COD4.

I have no problems here with 7.12. But this has been the case with every driver release since I make it a habit to use Driver Cleaner Pro in safe mode before installing newer releases. So long as you take that extra step you shouldn't have any major problems. :)

Driver cleaner? Never used it, been upgrading drivers from ATi from control panel and deleting the ATi folders from C:\ and C:\Program Files.

Nothing more should be needed and those driver cleaners usually cause more harm than good. Not only that, but the uninstall agent in the Catalyst package suite driver from ATi works like a charm.

I haven't had any issues whatsoever with Driver Cleaner Pro, whereas I've had bad experiences in the past (around Catalyst 6.x) with unclean installations just using the uninstall utility. To each his own though. :) It's only another 5 minutes added to proper installation time of the drivers anyways. Gives me some peace of mind, at least. :D

Sweet, installed 7.12 drivers this morning no artifacting(lets hope it stays this way), card works great, awesome performance increase over my 8600GT, tried crysis, COD4, and UT3 @ 1440x900. Only game performance i was upset with was crysis even tho i know i shouldn't have expected much from that anyway.
