Ive never played a MMORPG before, but this game seems interesting. Im going to Utah for an eng intership, and i have a feeling im going to be bored, so i wanted something to do.
 
WOW is the best MMORPG out right now. Then again, I stopped playing it because the developers are incompetent at fixing bugs and implementing features. If you do get it, play on a Normal server as the PVP implementation is poor.

I would hold off for a while and see how the upcoming Battlegrounds patch goes.
 
I would get it, WoW is one of the better MMO's out there. However, there's a chance I might have to quit playing it due to my living situation, but I still will probably manage to get the game cards and play with those when I can.
 
the money isnt a prob, the job pays very well, plus i can work overtime whenever i want, in which case i will be making more than my mom because its time and a half
 
Yeah I'd get it. I don't think you can really get anything done without at least an hour of continuous play. Of course you said that you would be bored a lot, so I guess time won't be an issue for you.
 
If you get it come play on Stormscale, [H] clan there with a bunch of people to help you out if need be.
 
can this be installed on multiple comps? i have a desktop and a laptop, and i might wanna sit on the couch with the laptop sometimes
 
I know you've posted in one (at least) of the GW threads, but not sure if you've played it. Anyways, Guild Wars (my intro) has much less of a learning curve, but gameplay is noticeably different from your traditional MMO. Just trying to provide another possibility.

 
If your looking for something to waste a little (or a lot) of time on then WOW is the stuff. Its also more of a noob MMORPG so it should be a little easier to pick up than some other MMORPGs out there.

P.S. make sure you start your character on Stormscale so you can play with the rest of the [H]
 
WOW is a great MMORPG but gets boring after a while due to it like said before "a noob MMORPG." But it would be a good choice for you since you never played MMORPGs before.

i used to recommend wow 100%.. now after playing it for a few months, I don't.. it might be fun at first, but the grind and the ganking (if on a pvp server) gets extremly old after a while.. you can only do so many quests like: collect 25 feathers and return them to whoever, deliver this ring to whoever, collect 10 blue crystals, 10 red crystals, 10 green crystals and return them to whoever, escort a mechanical chicken across the desert (no lie).. eventually this gets super boring, I will be letting my account run out of time and my chars die out.. so if you have $50 to burn on the game, and $15 per month for a few months then go for it, otherwise go with guildwars or something that doesn't have a monthly fee

Yep, although depending on the laptop specs it might not run so good.

If its your first MMORPG, WoW is definetely the way to go.

There are actually a bunch of those guys, you have to excort all over the place. At least I remember seeing at least 3 on the Alliance side.
 
Why not download videos and read about the gameplay and figure out yourself if it would be fun for you instead of asking other people who have different tastes if they like it or not. Thats like you going on a blind date with someone and asking people who know her if shes hot or not some will say yes some will say no and some will say shes ok. Personal preference my friend. To each his own.

There are 3, doable by both factions. You kind find them in Tanaris, Feralas and The Hinterlands from semi-rare region drops. Turn in is an NPC in Booty Bay with an extra reward for doing all three.
 
All personal questions man. To me...

"Should I get WOW?"

NO. Guild Wars is free and with BF2 about too land... the free matters a notch more. I can play BF2, and maybe accidentally skip a few too many Guild Wars sessions, without feeling I'm getting ripped off in the process. Now you might not play fps, but you get both my points then, the personal preferences of game types, and the commitment factor. Monthly fee that high makes it more for diehards... effects the good and the bad.

WOW ad posted on this forum says it all. If that appeals to you then by all means. And yes... I'm appreciative of the humor. I'm not saying you will only like WOW if you like being a dude that doesnt mess with your GF, but WOW is to get sucked in. Use up all that time we might sit on our bums. Not really designed for some one with not much time that would want to play at least a few types of games.

we im stuck in logan utah all summer. i have way too much free time, so i got wow. it will keep me out of trouble, though i cant think of anything i could get in trouble with out here.
 
I'm in the very big minority here, but give EQ2 a try. I bought EQ2 and WoW on the same day and I have still not even played an hour of WoW. I have a level 31 Paladin (just about 32) which I have mostly solo'ed or been in small 2 or 3 person groups the entire time. I happen to find the game fun while being able to get things accomplished in a short period of time.
 
Yep.. if I had some free time, RPG's jump out at me. I can really only play games an hour to two a day or so. Which is about really as long as i can play an fps in one sitting. However say on a weekend with a lot of hours available, I can spend hours trying to level up or what have you. I dunno I love fps the most but I can't play them all day. Day to day they have to compete for that hour or so. If my pool of time was bigger, I know I'd get my $15 worth especially considering you can get totally lost in an RPG for the majority of a day when the time is available.
