Should I get a GTX 280?

I found a small PC shop that has a few GTX 280's new & factory sealed, (I think they were bought in bulk for system builds) they are selling them for $170 each...just the card no accessories, and EVGA brand.

Think it's worth it to pick one up, or should I just hold out until the new DX 11 cards come out.

I currently have a GTX 260, and it's fine, but the price on the 280 seems pretty dam good. Only draw back, I'd have to drive about 3 hours 1 way to get it lol...

So is it worth it?
 
True...but I could always sell my 260 for like $130 or something and basically pay $40 for a 280...lol

But ya, it's probably not worth it
 
Not worth the drive lol. You are fine with the 260 for now anyway right? The 280 is a step up but not that much of one.
 
If you think about it in terms of a performance increase, there wouldnt be too much, but for that price, I would snag one for sure. $40 for an upgrade that will at least get you a 18% increase in performance, according to toms review, is worth it. Here's a link to the review that I read.
 
I'd do it. Buy 10 of em and sell the for 225 each.

Ya but 18% increase for 6 hours in a car + cost of gas and food + whatever the difference is from what I would get if I sold my 260...

To be honest, I would rather sell my 260 and buy a couple of 4770's to tide me over for the new refresh at the end of the year lol

Guess I just talked myself out of it heh
 
Well, I was thinking more along the lines of buying a couple and selling them, plus upgrading your current card, making the trip worth it. But ya your right, 6 hours of driving is long trip.
 
If you have any games that you can't max out then i'd say get it. If you are happy with how you are playing games right now then I wouldn't get it.

Um man, even buying in bulk they are going to cost a hell of a lot more than $170. Newegg probably pays $250 for a card they sell for $265. Plus that computer shop needs to mark them up. If they are claiming they are brand new they are either stolen or they are lieing to you.
 
That's not entirely true, I knew a guy that got just bare reference cards in bulk for pretty cheap. There was a guy on here selling similar cards too, he pops up every now and then.
