Well guys, I'm less than a click away from purchasing the following combo..

AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 512K, L2 Cache, Windows Compatible 64-bit Processor 939 Pin - Retail

ASUS "A8V Deluxe Wi-Fi" K8T800 Pro Chipset Motherboard for AMD Socket 939 CPU -RETAIL

Should i spend the cash? Or should i hold on to it? Would you say that the extra 30 fps is worth the $504.00? Just want your opinions.....

My current system consists of the following..

XP 2800+ @3200
Corsair xms TWINX1024-3200XLPRO 1 GIG
Asus a7n8x deluxe 2.0
Radeon x800xt Platinum Edition
Seagate 120 gig Sata HDD.. * 8mb cache 7200 rpm
Audigy 2 platinum ex
Envision 18.1 lcd (23ms)

Thanks in advance....

That would be an awesome computer once you got it all together, that said, what are your reasons for doing it?

It would give you a speed increase, but you have a nicely overclocked XP CPU that has plenty of life left in it, especially at 3200+. If it were me, I would hold off, but if there are features in that new setup that you need, go for it.

are you saying thats the current system you own that you will upgrade or the current system you PLAN to buy?

I would say, no. It is *NOT* worth it. You already have a top notch PC. You have no need for 64 bits. Your PC can run anything. Not worth the buy (especially when it costs $500+).

Hold off on the purchase. The $500 will buy a lot more in 6 months when you might actually need the extra power.

64 bit procs are pretty useless right now. 6-8 months down the road, 64 bit windows will be mainstream and 64 bit apps will be out, that will be the time to opt for 64 bit. If you bought it now, by the time apps that benefit from the 64 bit, ur CPU will be so slow compared to newer 64 bit CPUs, u'll hate yourself :)

just go with the old motto: Get it when you NEED it :) If you meet that criteria then go for it.

Thanks a ton for the replies guys...

I'm gonna go ahead and run my current system, and see what comes out in the future... Thanks a ton for your opinions...
