Should I defrag my RAID 1?

I'm using Auslogics disk defrag, btw. I've researched this a bit and I'm unclear if it's good and/or beneficial to defrag a RAID 1 volume. I've actually read that it's bad to do so.

Any thoughts?

Personally I don't run RAID 1, but RAID 0 and I think it helps with load times for games or just programs in general. I don't think it will damage the drives if you run a defrag on them.

Defragging RAID 1 is fine it wont hurt but gains will be minimal (which is to be expected on a lightly fragged NTFS volume)
Rebuilding the array every couple of months isnt a bad idea either as arrays do become unsyncd (SP)

*sigh* Again with this crap.

Fragmentation is a function of the filesystem, not the RAID array. Period. The end.
A RAID1 will have identical fragmentation on both drives, because the data is identical between the two (or should be very close to.) If your array is desync'd by more than half the size of the drive's cache, and not sync'd at shutdown, the controller is crap. There is no benefit to rebuilding a RAID1 array every 'couple of months' as claimed, unless the controller is trash. And even then, it should NOT be an issue except on very new data.

Defragmenting is always beneficial on NTFS, period. The amount of benefit depends on how fragmented the file system is. No more, no less.
