Is it worth buying or not? When's the new futuristic one going to be out?

It's worth a buy. Plus it's been out for awhile, so the price might be pretty low. If you like war games where u can drive vehicles, GET IT!

Personally... if I could go back in time and prevent myself from buying it, I would.

I'd say no. ET:QW is going to be out relatively soon and I can forsee that becoming very popular.

Like Voltron said, it's been out for long enough that you should be able to find it pretty cheap. Definitely worth it IMO.

I find it to be very fun, especially if you have any friends who have it to lan with. Having friend-filled squads is awesome.

Just say no to buggy software. (What ever happened to the simple yes/no responses? I didnt like any of those choices)

u shud definitely buy it imo. [h]ardforum now has bf2 weekends on servers from bfg gaming too. if u do get it and log in for a bf2 meekend match, look 4 Gmoney2392 thats my in game name.

I just put together a new computer and decided to buy a couple games. First I bought BF2 since everyone talks about it. This game isnt the best - it takes 20 minutes to find a decent server and all servers are fairly laggy so the experience isnt as good as it could be. The game is OK. Then I bought Halflife2 and css for 40 bucks (BF2 for 50 - rip). halflife 2 and css are both AMAZING and cheaper... I personally dont like the mass loading that goes on when trying to join a BF2 game - I need to be able to play fast and quick - this isnt possible with BF2 and the reward for waiting isnt that great. I wish I had just bought hl2 and not BF2.

Oh yeh...^^ i have played hl2 from start to finish 3 times lol...never gets old
I was in CS clan for 3 years, i loved it but once BF2 came out...no more CS or CSS
It takes 3-5 min to join a game and play...all good servers are in my favorites and i never get lag.

I have spent 470 hours on bf2 since it came out...i mean thats what usually i do when i get free time...its just too fun...although sometimes bugs piss me off...

do you have a widescreen monitor? if so, no. if not then sure

It's so easy to get the widescreen to work. Don't know why people make such a big deal over it.

eh I made it when I got up this morning just choose the "It's fun but it's buggy, wait for the new one."

BF2 is one of the best games of the century IMO.

The amount of games out there that give you a true "fun factor" of 10 I can count on one hand. This game is one of them.

I voted hell yes, but at first when I was a CS:S addict, I really did go back to CS:S in an hour.... but now, I'll go back to BF2 in an hour no doubt about it.... CS:S just seems so... arcadish now... Run shoot, die wait, run shoot. BLAH, but still.. if I can force myself into CS:S again, I probably could get addicted again.

EA is the devil.

BF2 has consistently become worse with each patch. Don't get me started on the "booster packs".

What makes you think the new one won't have even more bugs/crap than BF2? BF2 is a very good game, once you get used to the bugs & how the game works..

A yes man here.

Right now this is my only game being played.

Yes it does have some bugs, I won't even attempt to deny it, but I still enjoy it.

You should buy it. It is a great game.

If you can wait a few days order this version:

BF2 Deluxe

You will get BF2 AND the Special Forces expansion all in one.

Great Deal!!

At this point just pick up BF2 and if you enjoy it grab Spec For. I'd wait and and see if they release all these stupid booster packs in a retail box before i'd buy them online, they don't add enough to the game for my tastes.

Yeah 1.3 is really messed up.. A lot of my friends, and even myself are experiencing crashes right when we finish loading maps. Really annoying :X

I played it once or twice.....dont like it. Im playing GRAW. I like that game alot.

PM me. I have a nearly brand new copy of BF2 sitting on my shelf. Its yours if you want it. Price to be determined. If you dont, Im gonna include it with my next eBay sale to entice the buyers.

buggy but fun game

I sitll play it even with the headaches, worth every penny for me :)

Buy Battlefield 1942. There's 2 expansion packs that came out later, and you can get the entire 3 cd set for $20.00. Then there are tons of free add-ons (Desert Combat the most popular). The number of servers is decent still. Not as great as it was a couple of years ago. BUT... you can't beat it for fun. It's way less laggy than BF2, you can jump in and out of servers in a matter of seconds, you can find servers quickly (sort on PING etc.). You'll get 100 frames per seconds with any decent video card. BF2 you'll get 35-45 unless you have a high end card (> 6800GT).

The game is a blast online. Fly a P-51, B-17 or jump in a Tiger or Sherman tank. Jump in a jeep, load it full of explosives, and car comb some Germans or Japs. BF2 you never see who kills you with all the high tech weapons. BF42 is way more personal hand-to-hand combat.

Just because it's a few years old don't pass it up. $20 bucks for the most fun I've ever had. :D

If you like FPS games that are team based where there are certain "classes" to choose from, you might want to pick the game up. I've played it and it is fun (though buggy like everyone has said).

Personally, I prefer FPS games where everyone has the same abilities and can pick up the same weapons and such. I like a level playing field. I also prefer DM so it's a free-for-all. That's why I stick to the UT series, FEAR, etc.

It's a good game for a lot of reasons, but it's buggy as hell and has some insanely lame game dynamics at times, and theres a LOT of lame players and clans out there who exploit and/or stack teams.

I think I prefered the Special Forces expansion pack more, it was more focused on ground battles on foot.

I think it is definately worth picking up, but if you have an Xbox360, get that version.

The X360 version is missing some features from the PC version, but it has no bugs, there are always servers availible, and I have only experienced lag once, it also looks great.

The game is sort of a cross between a Rainbow Six style tactical game and your average shooter, and I think it makes it a great combo. It makes it about positioning, thinking, and using your kits abilities to their fullest more than just who can bunny hop and run around like an idiot the fastest. The Conquest mode is also really cool, and having it be team based makes it a lot more fun than an all out free for all, at least for me.

EDIT: no matter which version you go with, pickup something to do during load times... the game has the most atrocious time for loading maps of anything I have seen.

I read a book during loading times. I usually finish 'em in a few days now.

Sooo long. :(

I bought BF2 about 3 months ago and I love it. I spend at least an hour a day playing . I would make sure you be careful with the patches they seem to do more harm then good.

Even though EA has made this one of the buggiest games i've ever played, the gameplay is fantastic. Nothing is more fun than squads with your buddies on TS. :D

It is the only game I play now. I really enjoy it. There are shortfalls with this and all games, but I've really enjoyed the game.

BF2 is a must buy for any PC gamer, there's so much variety in it that no two matches will be the same. It has it's fair share of problems, but for a game this complex that gives you this much freedom that can be expected. I'm amazed it runs as well as it does for the HUGE amount of crap going on simultaneously.
