The purpose of this post is to see what you think about this build, and if you believe I should wait for a while or go ahead and build it.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?

Hard Drive? Haven't decided if it is worth picking up a solid state drive or just using my current drives and possibly getting an external in the future for more space.

22" 1680 x 1050. Might upgrade or grab dualies in the future but not now.
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Soon, unless a significant price drop or quality improvement would be in the near future. Really the entire purpose of this post is 'Do you think I should wait'? I will likely buy the parts this week unless you think waiting a few weeks or months would bring me benefit.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
Crossfire support is the most important. USB 3.0. Multiple SATA ports since I currently have 2 drives and will probably be adding another one.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
64 Bit Vista, going to upgrade to windows 7 64 with my student discount

I am looking for price/performance ratio, and my primary concern is the newness of the 1155 motherboards and sandy bridge processors, as well as the possibility of the new AMD bulldozers. Also if the video card is worth grabbing at that price, or if I would be better off waiting and purchasing another card. If you believe I can gain significantly by waiting on the motherboards or processors for a few months than I have no problem waiting.

I have no urgency, but I want a new system because my motherboard is slowly crapping out on me. I have an old E8400 and a Radeon 4850, so I am going to just upgrade my system rather than purchasing an old board.

So do you guys think I should pull the trigger or hold it off?
 
Why not. I would pull the trigger considering your current mobo is crapping out. It would be a pretty substantial performance gain from an E8400 Dual Core to a 2500K Sandy Bridge Quad Core. There's a Microcenter in Chicago and it's selling the 2500K for $199.99 in store.
 
Holy moly its down to 179.99, 197.55 with tax! I am almost tempted to upgrade to the 2600K, but I am sure most of the games I will be playing won't support HT anyway.

Any comment on the motherboard situation? Would I be better off waiting until more sandy bridge mobos came out?
 
Holy crap! It is $179.99. Damn that's an awesome deal for the performance you're getting. Upgrade man upgrade.
 
Well I pulled the trigger on the processor, thanks!

I might wait until there are a few more motherboards that are even purchasable before I go with the MSI one though.
