Should ATI buyers keep waiting?

R580 is probably just an upclocked R520, like the X850 was to the X800. And looking at the R5XX nomenclature also tells me it is not a whole new architecture.

As i've said numerous times if you keep waiting you are going to end up waiting for the next big thing forever.

Buy now, sell, and upgrade as needed in my opinion.

Yes.

R580 is PROBABLY going to have WGP 2.0 AKA DX10 ... and thats just sexy

My best bet is wait for the R520 reviews, if its crap, wait for the R580
if its awesome, just get it

well i sure would like to see a x850 pro xt or whatever kicking around $250--LOL

any time a new core comes out--the old cores price drops a bit--if another brand comes out with a faster core for a lower price it will drop again-- i think lower prices are a good thing.

the truth is we are alll being milked by the vidoe card people-- sure there is a reason why these cards cost more to make than in the past--but --no matter how good a new card is .

does anybody really need a card that cost $400 to $600+ ?

your first $200 gets 90%--and the last $400 pays for that last 10%

now what if that last 10% ain't supported by the games your running ?--LOL

i wouldn't worry too much about which core is the top dog-- i just look for the relative bargins.

I'd have to kind of agree and disagree

I think there is a certain sense of waiting within reasonable time being very smart.
"Get it right the first time" type of mentality comes with a sense of patience.

But yea as for something as R520 and R580 ...no waiting. It's not going to be a full new and improved chip.
