Short DVI cables?

Anyone know where to get short DVI cables? If I wanted to connect a 2nd display to an iMac, the cable run only needs to be like a foot long. So having a huge 6ft tangle of DVI cable going in between seems like overkill.

Has anyone ever seen short-run DVI cables? Like 1 or 1.5ft.

...keep in mind that is single link, so it tops out at 1920x1200 @ 60Hz. If you want to connect a 30" LCD (2560x1600) or one of the new 120Hz LCDs you will need a dual link cable.

Sorry I forgot that I posted this thread :)

Thanks for the links. Single link DVI should be okay for me as I'd be connecting a 2209WA which is only 1680x1050.

The thing I could never figure out is does it need to be DVI-I or DVI-D? Or does it not matter anymore?

DVI-I is digital plus analogue. DVI-D is digital only. For a digital signal, it really doesn't matter which one you use (in terms of cable).

if I remember correctly, if your monitor is DVI D, then you need that cable. And the DVI I cable would not fit. I may have it mixed up, but i'm sure they are not interchangable because I encountered this problem before.

DVI-I and DVI-D cables are both the same size and shape, it's just that DVI-D cables have no connection to the analogue pin. You may be thinking of DVI and HDMI, which are the same signal (video-wise) but require an adapter because the plugs and sockets are not the same size or shape.

Also, can you not just tuck the cable behind the desk or whatever? I always do that now because I bought one or two short cables before to minimise mess and had to buy longer replacements when I moved my stuff around. Not worth it IMO, which is why I have a 10m and 15m ethernet cable for example. ;)
