Currently running a 6850 @ 2560x1600 (or wahtever my 30" monitor is, can't remember now).

Been looking to get a GPU upgrade for awhile now that has a great cooling system (air) that will run semi current games at top FPS. I've stayed away from keeping up to date on the latest GPUs but what I do know is the nVidia 980 is coming soon while AMD has just been upgrading their 29x series. So, for the best bang for the buck should I wait a little and see how the 980 performs or if it causes price drops or get something like a 290x @ around ~380-400?

Games I'm currently or primarily playing:
WoW
D3
BF4
Shadows of Mordor

I would say you also need to list all your specs since you seem a bit out of the loop and a bit spacy.

Im looking into the R9 290 gpu for 269$.. seems like an amazing price for the performance you get.. Yes they run warmer then the new maxwells and use more power, but..... still a great GPU and will serve you well IMO... GTX970 or R9 290 / 290X should be on the top of your list.. Good Luck buddy
