I recently moved from Vancouver, WA to Biloxi, MS and left behind my beloved pc. What is the best way for me to have it shipped to me? Should I have it taken apart piece by piece or would UPS somehow be able to ship it as a whole? My case is an Antec 900 so it's quite a beast.

Maybe someone who works at a computer vendor who ships custom pc's to clients could chime in. Also anyone know of how much it would cost approx?
 
Idealy, I think it would be best to disassemble everything.

If you don't want to do that, I would at least do a few things:
1. Remove HSF. It probably will dislodge and damage something en transit.
2. Remove/disconnect HDD's and bubble wrap them individually, just to be safe.
3. Make sure PSU is screwed in TIGHT, so it doesnt rattle around.

Just my 2 sense, I'm not a vendor or anything.

+1 This is how I've done it in the past when I sold complete systems.
 
How much did it cost you to ship?

Also do you just bring it to like UPS and have them package it? See it's my parents that will be sending my computer to me and I don't think they'd understand the concept of properly packaging a pc for shipment.
 
Tell them what to do over the phone... get some boxes, bubble-wrap, packing tape, 1 big box, then a small one for HDD's and HSF.
 
Have them use lots of bubble-wrap. Just fill the case with it. The idea is to prevent anything inside the PC from moving around.

Exactly. Stuff all the gaps with packing material so that nothing can move. The more everything is held in place, the less likely that anything will break. It would still be a good idea to remove the HSF, expansion cards, and HDs, but that all depends on if there's someone to handle your PC who's actually capable of removing those components safely.
 
Remove CPU heatsink and any other non-stock heatsinks, the video card, and harddrives.

Ship everything else inside the case, packed well with bubblewrap, and the removed parts separately.

When it arrives, TAKE OUT YOUR MOTHERBOARD, and any other components still inside, and after, put it all back in. This ensures that there cannot be any shorts, and if you try powering it on and there is one, it CAN explode - trust me, I've had it happen.
