so i just got my shimian thunderbolt edge 27" monitor and couldnt have been more excited to get it going. i assemble the few pieces and plug the monitor in. nothing happens.... the monitor will not turn on. there is electricity making its way to the monitor (im pretty sure)because the green light is illuminated on the power chord unit. in addition, my laptop does not recognize another display is connected. on top of all this the instruction manual is only in korean... what do you think the solution is/ what my next course of action should be? i would realllyyyy like to avoid shipping it back to korea if at all possible. thanks so much in advance.

Plug it into a desktop.... yours, your neighbors, the guy at work... try something besides your laptop.

This.

Presuming no change... be prepared to ship it back. The risk you take in trying to "save" money with products.

tens of thousands of these Korean 27s out there working fine&amp;lt;br /&amp;gt;&lt;br /&gt;<br />

My point was lemons happen...and when you "save" money, what you usually give up first is RMA service.

Your Catleap is gorgeous, yes...but what if you got a lemon or what if it died tomorrow? My zr30 was purchased refurbished, died shortly after arrival...Called HP, within 48 hours I had a replacement sent overnight advanced RMA free shipping. I paid more for my product, OTOH I know I have a great warranty and RMA department backing the purchase. Hopefully the OP can bring his monitor back to life...but given that even plugged in the OS doesn't detect it, unless it is a bad cable or GPU output it is DOA...
And who knows what the RMA is like with these off brand El Cheap Koreans bought from who knows where.

fair enough

lol, that hash in the quote is the cat's opinion on the matter I think

Live in fear and the terrorists have already won...

Seriously though. Paying twice the price for warranty (even 3 year) is kinda a dumb move.
Unless you are working with high risk business situations where tech support is gold I'll stick with Korea.
