shielding speakers

is there any way to take normal stereo speakers and shield them? i was thinking of a mod involving some sony speakers...

You can use Bucking magnets,
You can encapsulate the magnets on the drivers.
Or you can shield the cabinet.
Pick your poison.

There is no one answer. Go read up on some speakerbuilding forums, those folks will have plenty of answers.

As for me, I would jsut go buy some shielded drivers and get it over with.

I was thinking the same thing.... its a much easier solution.

Do a google search on "mu-metal". You should only need it on the inside of the box closest to the monitor.

Or, like the previous post said, just go buy you some, it's probably cheaper.

the main reason i want to sheild them is because i plan on modding them into my case.

and i dont watn to get new speakers, i like the ones i have. so mu-metal is the only way? or can i use somethng else?

If your only going to put them in the case you don't need shielding, unless your using a floppy and each speaker is going to back right up on that drive.

Your monitor is the only thing really sensitive to magnets. You can try wrapping the speaker magnet in Mu metal, sometimes that works. Adding a "Bucking" magnet is far more difficult and unless your speaker was designed for that to begin with it can actually detract from performance.
