Well...its a sad day for my Thermaltake Purepower 680w PSU....Got it about 2 months ago and all was good. After some overclocking attempts which ultimately resulted in me putting everything back to stock settings....the PSU bit the big one.

As I was delightfully surfing the net upon the [H]ard Forums I was abruptly interrupted with a total system shutdown. After thinking "WTF!" for a few seconds I just tried turning it back on. That didn't work....of course. I flipped the switch on the PSU to turn it off then back on but NOTHING! I looked on my Mobo, which has a small red LED light signaling there is current, was not on.

To make a long story short....its dead. Oh well...at least I had an excuse to order more parts off newegg :). I ordered a new OCZ Powerstream 530w PSU and the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum board...w00t. Can't wait to start overclocking my 4000+ :D

The big 680W (in Thermaltake units :p) couldn't handle your power!

Are you sure it wasn't the motherboard?

Yeah.. It seems that the 500W is the only power supply Thermaltake has designed well. Take a look at the specs on the 680W.....

8A on the 12V for the drives.... that's not unusual....

15A each for the other two 12V rails... Hmm... That's kind of low. Actually lower than the 500W!

So where's the rest of that wattage?

Oh yeah! 50A on the 5V rail! There it is. Knew it had to be there somewhere.

Heh...to be honest I never really did any research on PSU's....I had a Tt Silentpower 480w before this one and it was stable. Needless to say I sold that one to a friend and its still running...

Dumb me...I "assumed" this would last me awhile. Anyways, after a quick browse on the forum I found that 530w Powerstream fit the bill for me. I'm thinking this will last me awhile....

You mean 520W, right? Not 530W.

if you're interested, I've got a 520ADJ I'll sell for $60 + shipping. If not, that's cool. I'll throw it up in FS/T later today.

Oops, I'm sorry I meant 520w...was going off of memory haha. Sorry to turn down your deal....but I already ordered it off of newegg :( ....its in the billing process so no changes to the order can be made. Thanks for the offer though. :D
