Sharpness

Have you tried contacting LG customer service about the reset bug? they can be quite helpful.

which region are you in?

I hope you have better luck if you do exchange, but the 63V does sound like an annoying bug. It might even affect other models as LG have many variations based off that 27" panel, a range I thought looked pretty good for low price but I'm not so sure now.

was seriously considering a pair of these 27" LG IPS displays...not the exact model you have but one of the cheaper versions. would like more info on this bug to know if i can live with it or not. you say that after a power cycle it resets to 6 but it is not really 6? what number range is there for sharpness 1-10, 1-12? what is it set to out of the box? does it do this for any other of the controls like contrast, etc...?

why is it so hard to find a decent 27" 1080p IPS monitor?

ok so it resets to a level 6 sharpness even if the OSD says it is on a different value? that's pretty much unacceptable in my book. a monitor that i am paying $250+ for should remember settings after a power cycle.

and only after a power cycle? did you test whether or not is does the same with sleep mode?

and last whether or not only sharpness is affected? contrast or brightness same thing?

thanks for taking time to answer!

Sounds like a firmware bug that calls a wrong value, rather than a user defined value from the screen on power on.

yeah i was looking at the 27" ones...these specifically

LG 27EA33V

LG 27EC33V-B
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005495

the only difference i can tell between the two is that the 2nd one has a removable stand according to the detailed specs? the 1st one looks identical though so i am not sure. but i am willing to bet that these have the sharpness bug since they are 27" IPS LGs like the one in the OP. so my search continues...the korean monitor lottery is looking better everyday.

I have the 23EA63V-P and it is set to the correct sharpness setting. No matter what i change or fiddle with, if i hit reset, it always goes back to the correct setting. Just thought i'd point out that i've got the smaller version and it doesn't do that.

I just bought this monitor instead of the bigger one because of your post and you are wrong.
23EA63V-P has the same bug. It's still less noticeable than vertical lines on some colors and light leaks.

SAME BUG IN 23EA63V-P

Hello
I am also interested in these monitors and I also would like to use them for photo editing.
But I have a little question regarding the dpi

How does the 81.59 dpi of this monitor compares to the rest of the competition?
Meaning should you look for a higher dpi panels when it comes to photography?

Thank you

The push has been for higher dpi recently, but it still basically depends on how close you plan to be when viewing the display. I tend to sit fairly close so I look for more than 100ppi (or dpi as you say).

hi guys, anyone find any work arounds to this issue?
is there a similar utility to screenwhite that can be set via the OS?

like the monitor (23ea63v) but this is so annoying :(

lastly - has anyone tested color profiling when using DVI vs HDMI?

thanks
