I've been looking at these two monitors/tvs profusely in the last week. I've also been keeping my eyes on the Westy 37w3 but I've held off because i think it's a little too big for PC use. Then these 32's came out and I think that 32 is the sweet spot for me. The primary use for me would be to use it as a PC monitor but I'd also use my Xbox360 on it occasionally.

I want to know if it is worth the extra money to get the GP1 because it's Vyper Drive functionality for games. To my knowledge, Vyper Drive is supposed to virtually eliminate input lag between game consoles and the TV.

Does anybody have the D62 and a 360? If so, does the screen lag while playing games? If not, then I'd get the D62 right away. I've had my Sony 24" FW-900 since 2001 and I think the time is right to get a new monitor. Thanks in advance.

From my understanding, the Vyper Drive is supposed to eliminate lag due to the upscaling process. If you're only going to use it for the PC and Xbox 360 at 1080p, you shouldn't have to worry about anything. It's when you throw a 720p, 480p or 480i signal at it that it's supposed to work that magic.

As most of my gaming will be PS2 and Wii for the foreseeable future, I'm interested in this.. except it's too small (I'm needing a 42" or above). Oh well.. they'll come eventually.

There is no DVI input on the 32D62U.
The DVI on the 32GP1U is DVI-I so it could handle VGA as well as DVI.
They look to use the same panel, so other than this and the Vyper drive the performance of the panel for colors, contrast, scaling, etc., should be identical.

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't even realize that the D62 doesn't have a DVI port. That's still ok though, I'll probably get a DVI to HDMI wire. Also, do you know if the components on the D62 accept 1080p? Some sites say it does but others say it only goes up to 1080i.

Yes, according to the Sharp brochure, both the 32D62U and 32GP1U support 1080p over component.

It does support 1080P over Component with the XBOX 360. I will be supplying some pictures of that tomorrow. :)
