I hate to sound cliché but a 3D screen for mobile devices really could be the next big thing. I’m not sure I am too thrilled about this part though:

To get the 3D illusion viewers must hold the screen about 30 centimeters in front of them -- about the same distance at which a cell phone or digital camera is typically held. If they get the angle right, they will see an image that appears to have depth; if they get it wrong they will see a blurred image that's difficult to decipher.

I hope Nintendo has a solution to the blurring problem for their 3DS.

That's actually a game for the dsi.The 3ds is suppose to be using this sharp display tech.

Actually i don't think that it has been said for sure which way it will go. It could use either technology. The story here only stated that it is believed that this screen might find a home in the 3DS, but i have never seen any story that says for sure which way it will go. They have only said it could be using either one.

Yea for all we know it could use both. But the original announcement said that Nintendo is working on a new handheld with 3d tech that allows users not to wear glasses. Now sharp announced that they are developing 3d screens for mobile devices,so it's easy to assume that Nintendo is use this same tech or something very similar.
