Sharing Virtualbox VMIs between platforms

Wanting to try virtual box for its smaller footprint...

I'm trying to share a couple of Virtualbox VMIs (Virtual Machines) across platforms (WIndows and Ubuntu 64). I've created the virtual machine in Ubuntu64 host but I can not see it when I'm in Windows. Vice versa didnt work as well.
