I got 2 samsungs but they aren't in my home at the moment 793df and 753s (my main monitor from back in the day still looks great like day one) I really like both and they look really good considering they aren't something special or fancy
I think mine were 997DF or something like that. They weren't expensive, I think $200-250. I got one cheap from Best Buy since it was the demo unit, I bought the extended warranty on it since it was the demo.
Used it for a couple of years and it started to lose it's brightness, took it to Best Buy and they gave me store credit for the amount I paid and that is when I upgraded to LCD.

My buddy had the SGI version of one of the 16:10 Sony HD Monitors. Awesome monitor and really heavy.
He only switched to LCD due to this one sustaining static damage from a lightning strike near his house. the strike also took out his motherboard.
The monitor still worked for a few years after but every now and then the display did something, can't remember what it was, but it was bothering him so he caved and went LCD.
When he was choosing an LCD, I told him he'd want an IPS screen since he does graphic design and TN and VA have color/brightness shift.
He went with a non IPS Samsung since it was cheap, and he ended up selling it to a friend shortly after due to the color/brightness shift and bought a Dell 24" IPS for a couple hundred more.
He said he should have listened to me and taken my advice first.
