:p Sorry if the title sounded like this was something more than an n00bie asking for help.

I currently own a pc and am using Asus Vento 3600 casing which is too big and pretty ugly. Could I use to the parts in my pc right now for a SFF? What exactly is an SFF?

I know I'll have to change my Motherboard but will I have to change anything else?

Your help would be appreciated!

Well I think the forum title is pretty self-explanatory. They're smaller than regular tower cases and more compact. Silence is optional, but usually it's there. All you'll need, I think, is:

1.SFF Case
2.mATX motherboard
3.SFF PSU for the case (sometimes comes with them)

Oh and also you'll have to watch out for your heatsink(s). Due to space constraints you'll have hard time fitting larger heatsinks, but most of the time you should be fine.

just as the above post mentioned, you need a matx motherboard, sff case, and you must be concious of your psu size and heatsink heights. I would recomend getting as spacious a sff case as you can, then just measuring for heatsinks and stuff.

You could get a new mATX motherboard and either an Aspire Q-Pack or an Ultra Micro Fly. Both will be compatible with a full ATX PSU, so you will not have to buy a new power supply

Thanks for the help! The problem is that since I live in Pakistan * next to India for the geographically challenged* I can hardly find any sff cases. I mean shops carry all sorts of useless stuff here...like hundreds of different pc fans and liquid cooling kits and what not...but for some reason no micro atx boards or cases. One shop said that they might be able to get them for me but I won't have much of a choice on what brand. Basically I have a problem with my Asus Vento 35600 casing...it's too big. I want something small and easy to open up. *even though the asus people say that the vento is easy to open...it definately isnt!*...

I have two choices...

1. Get a regular sized casing and mod it up like crazy.
2.spend my money on a sff case and a liquid cooling kit for it.

your opinions have been really helpful! thanks!

I would buy an SFF, but thats because I dont really like full or mid towers ;)

I don't know if getting a full tower and "modding it up like crazy" will be worth the trouble that it entails. SFF forever!

for myself i like haveing a case on my desktop , to me that is sff . as far as noise goes i have always built my systems to be quiet

hugs

I like the looks the of the Qpack over the MicroFly. My friend just got a windowed Micro Fly, the front is ugly.

What kind of parts do you currently have? Proc/Socket, Mobo? The only thing I think you'll need to buy is a mATX Motherboard and possibly a shorter Optical. If you need any help feel free to PM Me.

If you think the Micro Fly front is ugly than don't even bother with the Qpack :)

I have a qpack, you know that. I really like Sg01's looks, and would like to get one, but I'm awaiting the Lian-Li's reviews.

I can't even get Lian Li to tell me to go screw myself...I have no idea whats going on with that case.
