Well, I need a new computer for work, and I'd like to get a SFF (if i do, almost guaranteed it'll be a shuttle) and I can't decide what to go with. This machine probably won't ever be upgraded, won't need a fast video card, but probably will have a decent (not great, but not budget) processor (with hyperthreading). The computer will be used for 2d graphic design, web design, and software programming (.NET and database stuff).
Basically, what i'm asking is should i get a socket 478 (Northwood/Prescott) or would i be better off getting the 775. Will the 2.8 gHz 775 perform equally with a 3.0 gHz 478?
Any suggestions about anything for my comp, not just limited to the processor (suggestions about specific models/brands of sff's, ram, drives, etc.) are well appreciated.
Edit: I'm mostly asking cause I know intel is the way to go for digital media creation but all i've ever had in my many many years of computer building (and using) is AMD
