I am a recent grad from Virginia Tech (and I am going back for more)...

My best advice is lock your door and make sure your roommate does too. If he doesn't than pitch a fit. Even with a lock, you can still get something somehow.

Second, keep the computer out of view. Most people see a laptop and then snatch it....I used a little "shelf" type of thing that was make up of aluminum wires (hard to describe) and you can tightly wrap a cable around that and your computer (putting the computer on the middle shelf) and put it next to your desk. This makes it hard to see and secures everything in it. As for the LCD monitor...just a simple cable will do the job there.

Once again, LOCK YOUR DOOR....your stuff will get stolen otherwise.
