Motherboard: Gigabyte H55N-USB3 mITX
CPU: Which should I go for, i3 530 or i5 750? Hoping to OC
RAM: Patriot Extreme Performance Gaming Series 2x2GB DDR3-1600
GPU: 5850
CPU Cooler: I'm looking at the H50 but I heard it's not compatible with the H55N, is this true?
HDD: WD 1TB 64MB
Optical Drive: undecided
PSU: Silverstone SFX 450W
Case: Still looking, waiting on more info on Lan Gear's new mITX case
 
according to annadtech you can't because of the one transistor on the back of the board, however, I have the board coming in tomorrow with an H50 and I still plan on mounting it. I'll try to put up some instructions for others so they don't have to worry. I think two flat plastic washers will be enough to fix the problem.
 
You can mount it, the dfi board has the same "issue" just add a pair of washers on each hole they come with the H50

I'm quite sure the reason for the washers are to raise the backplate higher than the transistors that are too near the bracket holes. I don't think the problem lies on the top surface of the board

So in a round about way you are saying yes.
 
will you rather get a straight up yes or an explanation on why the washers are needed?
I replied the way I did to ensure that you understand the need for the washers in the first place.
If you think about it, there is no point in putting the washers on the top side of the board,
 
I'd like to see the H50 mounted with washers myself. Curious if its a good work around or not. :)
 
Well I installed the H50 on my H55N-USB3 with no problems. Two things to keep in mind when installing: the double sided sticky tape will be over metal leads on the back so you really have to push down to make the one side stick. And the second thing is to use the four provided black washers on the bottom side of the board so no components get squished when tightning the locking screws. Other than that it was a breeze to put on, I'll let you know how temps are later tonight.
