SFF Questions

It will hold 2 HDD's, just be sure to use Western Digitals or SeaGates, they run the coolest, Maxtors die all the time in Shuttles.
 
how about a samsung and a western digital?

*edit* Ok, I've looked around for some benchmarks and temperatures readings for both my hard drives. My Western Digital is pretty old, but my samsung I just got a couple months ago. From what I've seen, the temperature for the samsung (temperature taken from the metal plate casing after 80 minutes of full hard drive use) was around 18 C. The Western Digital was (according to Tom's Hardware, not sure of their temperature measurement methodology, although they claim to have had an ambient room temperature of 26 C) 46 C. You guys think the WD is perhaps a little too hot for a SFF?
 
18C sounds very unlikely even in a well-ventilated case. It wouldn't even be warm to the touch, in fact that's maybe even a couple of degrees below room temperature :)

My Maxtor drive still works *knock on wood*. 43C right now though it jumps up to 46C when e.g. defragging. The WD Raptor runs 46C idle/50C load. (temps via SMART). The max temp for both drives is 55C according to the specs.
 
Temp of any working part in PC can't be lower then room temp. Well it can if You use Vhaporphase cooling.

Hence 18C on HDD is posible only if Room temp is 12~14 C.
