SFF MicroFly Thermal issue Plz help

As the topic states i seem to have a thermal issue with my 6800gt...

Specs are in the sig. all stock...
The 6800gt idle is about 65c and under full load is 92c...

I used to have a x2 aero on it and had to go back to stock... cleaned all the past off with 91% iso rub ach. put on a thin almost see through amount of paste incld the ram...

So what am i doing wrong... all other temps are in the mid 30's...

thinking of the zalman 700cu but not sure it hangs over the edge of the card...
 
is the fan working? Is it dusty? is the HSF properly mounted with all screws? sometimes those spring screws can do in sideways and make everything shift.
 
its not the case....probably seated the heatsink wrong...perhaps a little more thermal paste would have been good.
 
I have reseated the HSF twice... all in place esp with evga's little outlines on the card..
I am positive its the card HSF... I built one for my wife and her 7600gt does not go above 50 at idle... the fan works i have confirmed that... does it really matter if its white or silver paste.,.. i know peps like the silver... what about the memory... to they really need to have paste or should i have done a tim pad like it had before???

OK... so i added some amore paste.... reseated the HSF and started off low, but after a run of 3dmark 2006 hits mid 80's then cools to a 69/70c it shows ambient at 50.

So i am not sure whats going on...

Would a zalman 7000cu over hang???

I believe the Zalman protrudes out from the card so you might have some clearance issues with the power supply touching the heatsink. How do the internal case temps feel? When you open the side of the case, do you get a blast of hot air? Does the card operate at a lower temperature in another case?

I was thinking dust and/or fan sieze. There might also be the off chance that the temp sensor is just being whack.
 
Case temp is well... the air moving from the rear 120 fan is a little warm but nothing out of the blue... more cool then warm... the side that has the vid card is warm at the rear of the card... the fan is spinning without issue... i have another stock HSF and i could change it out... why i havent thought of that sooner. hmmm are there any other HSF that would work with the fly??? My opty sits at 35-37 idle... I tried using speed fan to look at the other temps that they were all off... i used the t-force one and case was 32-34...
the SB has a hS and get pretty warm... i did notice the -12v was only at -3 someting atleast according to speedfan and some other sensor... the biostar does not show -12v.
i would love to have MBM working like i did the DFI SLI i had... but have not found someone with the ini file to make it work...

Ooops, checked a few pics online and it seems the CF-700 should work just fine. Use it if you don't fix it with the other stock cooler. Best of luck to you.
 
thanksZoogle... i pick one up for 24 bucks... also picked up a 80 to 120 adapter for the from... i have a nice extra 120 i am going to put in the front... others have said to reverse the airflow might help.... we will see later tonight...

ok... so after two runs of 3dmark 2006


idle is sitting at 70C Ab air is 54C
Under load it sits at 85C

the fan is at 1200 rpm and i have not tried the 2500 rpm yet.

no more high 90's atleast... going to try 2500 rpm and see.

case temp is
34C

CPU is at about 33C
 
hmm you're using the microfly. does your model come with the temp sensor? if so, put that around the hsf and see what temps those report when you load up the gpu for a while. if it's sitting way lower than the gpu internal temp, then you know you've got a problem with the hsf for sure
