I am trying to build a computer that is slightly portable so I can easily take it with me when i go on trips. I have my mind set on Intel but beyond that i do not know whether to go with a 45nm dual core or go with a 65nm quad for the same price. Clock speed is largely irrevalent because I can easily overclock either. i would think though that the dual core would emmit substantialy less heat being both dual core vs quad and being 45nm vs 65nm.
The only real piece of the upcoming build that I have settled on ( besides the monitor ( acer 21.x inch with 1920x1080 res )is a gtx 260. I feel it is at the right price/performance point for me.
As cases come I like the NZXT rogue but i feel it to be a bit big. I am used to working with and handling computers sing the shuttle chasises. maybe the xqpack2 or the Thermaltake lanbox. I am picky about cases looking "cheap" so it makes things more difficult.
Besides all that I am not too demanding. All I would need is one dvd/cd dive and hdd. Never had much of a Use for a floppy drive. I would just go with a shuttle sp45h7 but i think i can get by with spending aalot less if i were to select a mobo+psu+case of my own.
 
Silverstone Sugo SG01 or SG02, "F" revisions. Fits a full-length video card, two hard drives, two opticals, and a large PSU. Smaller than a Rogue.
 
SG03 also will fit any card. Its a tower-like SFF case but its not hard to port around. I use a Geargrip harness to tote mine around. It fits a full size ATX psu as well. Like most SFF cases there are limits to what size hsf you can use in it. Most people use something like the NT06-Lite in it and turn the psu so it helps cool the NT06-Lite. A 120mm fan can be easily modded under the fins of the NT06-Lite for extra cooling capability. No rear exhaust fan but can hold two 120mm fans in front for intake.
 
I have alot of experience with building shuttle xpc for family . I like the clean elegant look ( especialy the G5 and H7 chasis). I very well my just go with n sp45h7 so i can fit a 4850 or gtx 260 inside. I could easily learn to like the silverstone sugo cases and the expanded epgradability and flexibility that they provide but the shuttle has a much smaller size. i dont think id be ever be really demanding graphics wise ( mostly just wow, but at 1920x1080).
I would like to be able to easily transport my computer from my home to family gatherings in a different state and the shuttle seems more practical for doing so. I feel that i realy do not need all of the sace the sugo cases provide.
 
just FYI, the lanbox is HUGE.

I have owned the qpack, lanboxlite, and the sg02; the silverstone has been the best, all things considered.
 
burn I have a system very similar to yours, what score are you getting on 3dmark06 - default settings
