I have a quick question regarding case, cpu, psu airflow.

Case: Silverstone Sugo SG06

Current setup:

Blue dots represent holes in the case.
The CPU cooler airflow is blocked by the PSU and HDD cage, there's a 20mm gap between the PSU and HDD cage, but cables run through there...
On the other side a large video card blocks air.

Issue: I was trying to silence my PSU fan by putting a 80ohm resistor on the +, but I managed to fry the fan controller, so I fixed it to the 5v line.
The PSU used to get loud (would start of silent but after watching a movie for ~30mins would start to get loud), I'm guessing because I had the CPU fan blowing in to the PSU... seemed logical for best airflow.

After fixing the PSU fan on to the 5v line, I swapped the CPU fan to blow down on to the CPU.

Questions:
Do you think the CPU fan and PSU fan will cancel each other out to certain degree as they are working in opposite directions... or will they both get enough air from the case holes?
Do you think the PSU will be cooler or hotter?

You can also flip the CPU fan so its blowing straight into the PSU intake.

Yes, they will cause some turbulence issues since they are so close together. Both fans will starve for air, and it will probably make one louder as a result. The PSU and the CPU will run hotter as a result.
Flip the CPU fan so it blows upwards toward the PSU, or leave the CPU fan blowing down and flip the PSU upside down so it intakes from the top.
 
^^my only issue with flipping the CPU fan on 2 of my SG05/06 builds, is mobo component cooling. Though if the front fan is directed and powerful enough (even a GTAP13 isn't... speaking from experience + ASUS M4A88T-I Deluxe here; though my P8H67-I Deluxe never overheated in similar conditions), it won't matter.


So, IMO, flip the PSU fan if it really is noisey. Otherwise, use a lower power setup for your SFF plans :p
 
Right now the system is ~silent, and I haven't seen any change in CPU temp. ~36c idle -58c load.... BUT with coretemp RC1 I get these weird spikes to TDP.

The big unknown is the PSU... it could be starved and overheating (with load) causing it to be less efficient.

If I flip the PSU fan it will suck air and this will reduce the cooling efficiency as the components will mis air.

Try it... blow on your hand, then suck.

The PSU fan is only ~50% covered by the CPU fan.
