Ok i just got a new Biostar COMBO from newegg. I put it ina comp with an optorite 52x cdrw, maxtor 80gb hd (also tried a 40gb seagate), a gainward 9550, samsung 512mb pc2700 ddr, and i also tried 3 different XP pro cds. Nothing has worked i get the same error everytime. th HDs format fine with full format then the error comes up. ive tried chaging the memory slots and stuff. here is the MS Knowledge base link i have but i mean does anyone have any idea?

did you go into CMOS setup and let the bios properly detect the hard drive? every motherboard/bios is different but either set it to auto detect (at POST) or use the built in auto detect/setup option. also check that your IDE cables are plugged in properly and in good condidtion.

HD and cd are on diff ide cables and they are plugged in good. the bios sees the HDD and windows see it because i can format with the xp cd. [edit] Both are also on master.
