Setup at ibuypower

Im planning on buying tomorrow and I just wanted some comments on the setup i was thinking about getting. First, i am going to return/ sell my POS inspiron 9300.

Also, about the raptor, can you specify which hdds youre talking about? Does it involve raid 0?

As for the HD. look in the storage forum..lots of info in there....If your stuck on a Raptor, get the 74..I would reccomond the 150, but they are way more expensive....

as for the RAID 0..Im not even gonna go there

The people who slam them are usualy 99% PC stupid.
#1 rule when Buying a custom system... Look around for tried and true working componants.. "meaning that work togeather" Not that they are the hip thing... Searching forums etc is a good way to see what rigs people have and what works well and what is a pain in the ass to make work well. [note: very rare will you see a high end system custom built that does not take tweaking to make work]

The systems they advertise they know work well. Where people get into problems is when they start upgrading to the Bling thng... Start mis matching componants.. They will work but may take time to make work well.

When you order from them and start changing from the original build you will need to make adjustments to the PC to make it work and function well.

there is a HUGE differance between ordering a Dell "mass production limited componant" PC and a custom built Ibuypower etc..

I bought my first Big system from cyberpower a few yaers ago.. Clicked every Bad boy toy on the market... to have the most updated toy around Spent alot of cash! After I pushed the buy button I went into a panic waiting for it.. constantly looking at status... While in the panic I searched for the company reseller ratings... OMFG what did I do,,,,,,,, Horrible ratings by many users...WTF I need to cancel... NO wait...... After a few days reading the complaints and realizing 99% of them were Stupid PC people,,,, I waited it out and did not cancel.. Rather than letting them ship it I opted to go and Pick it up..
Gfoing back to the reseller ratings One of the biggest complaints is shipping damage... Loose items etc..First thing I did when I got home was OPEN the PC, Re checked every plug, wire etc.. Crossed fingers and lite it up...After is booted I filled all the XP crap out and went to update all drivers.. Long story ...... Worked FLAWLESS from day 1 Still going strong, Have done many upgrades since but still no problems. Its now My extra gaming box for Guests etc..

When you read the actual complaints people have with these companys "look from the outside in not the inside out" you will realize 99% of the time its user fault not Makers fault.
Examle.. People buy ATI cards... Anyone who has ever bought a ATI card cant say they have not had to Tweak it to make it work, I have never had a ATI card plug in and run...They are bastards to tweak.. When the have been tweaked they work very well.
Now someone ordering a ibuypower PC with a ATI card will expect to turn it on and Porn and game away.....NOT....they will not think and start panicing My new PC is shit.. They fuked me.. etc.. Send it back... Not under standing what a RMA is etc... Now the resellers rating fall again due to another PC stupid user.

Main therory THINK before you .... welll. Just use your head...realize you are buying a CUSTOM system there will be a few things that clash.. Thats half the fun of having a Nice bad ass PC is tweaking it..
Another point.. When you choose the nice Parts to go in it... Research them... I have yet to see a new product come out that does NOT have Issues that people return them again and again.. Example BFG Vid cards people complain left and right about them, Seems to be more than any other maker.. But people still buy them..? over and over and complain.. There was a thread awhile back a guy was on his 5th RMA?? WTF... I would have written them off at 2 next...............

People complain It worked for a few days them it started having problems.. Slow.. etc..Hmm? virus? Spyware? "remember stupid PC people" dont know any better.. First things first Get on the phone and complain.. I want a new one...
I have personaly sent e mails to some of the people who complained and gave bad reviews everyone was NOT a Cyberpower issue.. Was a USER issue! Loading programs, Virus etc..
Dont just order what you saw as the bling... Order parts that work, that you have researched that work togeather..
2 out of 5 PC's I build likes to test my blood pressure.... It can be something easy or something that takes a few hrs to pin point.. Example. I built 4 identicle AMD 64 3000+ systems.. except for video cards.. all basic systems Same case, MB, Memory etc.. I bought 4 5200 Nvidia cards 2 from the same maker 2 from another.. 3 booted and screamed from the get go... 1 was a bitch to get to run... took me three hrs to get it to boot and run.. The 3 that went off without a hitch requied nothing.. Screamed out of the box so to speak.."And still do"

Again realize you want a CUSTOM PC.. be ready to learn how it works and what you will need to do to keep it working..

Well, Maingear is a great company...the review [H] did on them recently speaks for itself. If I was to buy a system now, I'd definitely check them out.

Oh, and you have my sympathy with your Dell, I totally understand.

IbuyPower is horrible, some kid got his with his 7800( i think) in backwards! It was drooping of the mobo..

HOW is it possible to mount a video card backwards??? It cant, It cant be tried, It cannot happen..??? Makes you think about my theroy?

They dont have a store... They have a pick up door.. You just cant go and see so to speak.. You can will call your order...
Also realize.. as the other thread shows... They promise this date and tis late..... Well you order hot market parts that most people dont have in stock be ready to wait! and have your order be late! The day you order they may have 1 few in stock.. But when the orders go through at the end of the day you may have been 3 to late.. Now you are back ordered..

I had that isse with My CPU.. Lucky for me 1 week into it while waiting Intel came out with a NEW CPU, they got a few in and offered a upgrade! for a few bucks more.

Basicly they are a company that lets you pick your part and they put it togeather..
They are NOT a DELL, HP, Compaq etc.. that ONLY uses a few standard parts as a Base and goes from there...

PC's DO NOT always work flawless like people want them to. Mainly PC's that are more than basic set ups.. Our work PC's all basic Compaqs work very well, I am sure if we started fluffing them up with Bigger RAM, CPU's Vid cards etc.. they would have issues.. As they were not made to be Pumped up..

The 4400 is nice, but metrically, it's not worth the price increase. I'd go with the 3800 and save a few hundred clams.

this is the kind of setup I want to keep for a REALLY long time. I used to always cut corners but im trying not to do that now. I mean, if i did that ofr everything, the whole setup would be junk. (basically, im trying to convince myself lol0

OK - not telling you to cut corners. I'm saying that the performance increase between a 3800 and a 4400 has been shown to be negligible. No reason to throw your money in a hole if you don't have to.

Just to clarify - I'm not saying that the 4200 or 4400 or 4800 aren't better, I'm merely saying that as far as value goes, the price difference between the models is going to be much more tangible than the performance difference.
