Settings up Google DNS on WRT610N

Does anyone have a guide on how to setup Google DNS on my router? I've set it up on the computers that I have setup as static ips but the devices that get assigned ips dynamically are still using Comcasts DNS servers.

Thanks for the help.

Log into your router (probably 192.168.1.1) and add "8.8.8.8" to "Static DNS 1" and "8.8.4.4" to "Static DNS 2". Click Save and then Reboot, that should work. Keep in mind I don't have this router and don't use Google-DNS...but what I said is the basic gist of how to do it. Check out this picture to see what I'm talking about.

4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2
high level DNS servers using anycast FTW

Its slower and less configurable than OpenDNS IMO. Takes longer to resolve.

My ISPs DNS is still faster than either though, I just use OpenDNS as a backup (secondary)...though my ISPs DNS has been very reliable over the years.

I gave it a shot, cuz I'm a dork like that. Honestly, it works so I guess what more is there?

I don't know about the whole 'faster' and 'better' claims, because seriously what the heck does 0.05seconds matter anyway? Allthough it's possible I'm just so used to OpenDNS which IS/WAS faster than my local ISP's servers I just can't tell the difference.

So I guess I'm saying after a couple of hours it's seems pretty good to me.

Yea, I'd use Level3 if I didn't rely on the OpenDNS filtering.

My ISP (Road Runner w/ Time Warner) is twice as fast as Google's, and slightly faster then Level 3's (4.2.2.1). I'll stick with my ISP kthx, it's never failed me in the past

But there are some people (Comcast *cough*) that never seem to work so I'd suggest either 8.8.8.8 or 4.2.2.1

edit: as far as speed goes, sure it might only be 1/10 of a second, but it's EVERY single hostname

4. login to aim

and many pages have to lookup lots of different domains as they have content from many urls displayed. A single page can have 10-20 dns resolutions easy on some sites.
