Hi all,

I have purchased a domain, and have a linux box available to me. I am running Fedora Core 6 on the box, and will be putting some sort of wiki software on it once I get everything up and running. I've got a few questions regarding DNS and nameservers.

I'm not entirely sure how to go about pointing the domain I purchased to my linux box. (domain purchased through godaddy). I know I can do domain forwarding, and forward the domain to my IP (static IP), but I'd like the linux box to function as a nameserver so that it is a bit more 'professional'. If anyone has any experience with this, or some good guides on how to do this, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

You will need to install and configure BIND (or another DNS server) and set it up to host the regular stuff for your domain (mail, www, etc) as well as the name servers them selves (NS and A records). You will probably want to find a how-to specifically for Fedora (of which I am sure there are hundreds).

At that point, you will just enter your new hosted name servers at godaddy in the specific domain names settings.
