How wouuld I do that? If I wanted to make sure my pump would run when I started up my computer? I'm planning to replace the resovoir and pump from my Kingwin AWC-1 with a pump form a fountain (something I can pick up at Home Depot) and a homemade resovoir?

You could simply buy one of those PCI-Relay cards, they run about 20 dollars. Basically you cut the power line to the pump and plug the wires into the relay. The card takes care of the rest and will turn on the water cooling system when the computer turns on.
I'm going pump shopping right now, and just wanted to be clear what my options are.you don't have to get a relay switch, it does help. what with getting rid of reaching around to unplug the damn thing whenever you turn off the computer.
and to answer your question: yes if you get a 12v DC pump you can just hook it directly to your PSU, and if you get an AC pump it would be better for you in the long run to get a relay switch because of the aforementioned unplugging.
