Hey all - I want to set up my desktop I just bought with a RAID 0 array, but I am not sure about the best way of doing so. What I currently have is a 250GB IDE drive (probably going to be replaced soon) but my new system coming has two 500 GB Deskstars SATA. I want to setup a RAID 0 array with 1,000 GB for fast access to data and such to help load gaming and all. However, I am wondering if I am to make the array my C: and install all my files to it (Operating system, games, etc.) or do I use a typical IDE/SATA single drive for C: and the array as D:
If I do make the array another drive letter that is not the system drive - do I install my games to it? Or... how would I benefit with this setup? If the ordinary drive is my system drive, will there be much performance increase since the RAID setup will only be accessed when loading games/programs? I'd like to benefit from the array full-time.
I do realize RAID 0 is not mirrored and thus no back up, etc.
