Setting CPU Affinity when running as a service

I'm running F@H on a bunch of P3 Dualies.

How can I set the CPU affinity when running F@H as a service?

Or does it even matter?

When you set it up, select yes to edit advanced options. For the first one, do ID1, secon ID 2, etc..

affinity doesn't really matter with F@H... I'm pretty sure that it's been shown there was little to no gain in setting affinity on dual processor boxen... But what poddo said is correct, if you run more than once instance, you need to set the machine IDs (1-8) accordingly....

And make sure they are installed into their own seperate folders

Program Files\F@H1\
Program Files\F@H2\

Ya I have the machine ID's set and its installed in two folders.

Cool I wasnt sure if there was a performance gain or not sounds like there isnt one.

I could be wrong but machine ID has nothing to do with affinity

correct.... the machine ID is a F@H thing.... affinity is an OS thing....

right. So this whole tread is very missleading. Setting machine ID will not effect the affinity at all.

The important thing is for more than one console, you need unique ID's, F@H figures out how to use all the CPU power out on its own. There is no need to worry about affinity.
