Services stopped loading on boot even though they are set to automatic

Some services suddently stopped loading on windows boot. The ones that I noticed were Windows Audio (for sound...) and Server (used to share folders). I goto Admin Tools > Services in the Control Panel and they are set to Automatic but they still don't start on boot. I have to start them manually every time. Any ideas? I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2
