Servers / SANs with consumer SSDs

Trying to get some feedback on using consumer level SSDs in raid arrays local on a server or in a SAN. The price difference between enterprise and consumer level is huge. But I'm scard consumer may have a LOT more failures than enterprise.
So ...
Are you using SSDs in a server / SAN?
Are you using Enterprise or Consumer?
What do your failure rates look like?

I read an article from a company (I thought it was zfsbuild.com, but I'm not sure now) that talked about how they used intel G2 SSD's for ZFS builds as L2ARC and ZIL.

They company a xen server farm that sold vps hosting. I'll try and dig it up for you.

The article talked about SSD lifespan being easily predictable and they were able to be proactive about hot-swapping disks before it became an issue.

But it basically convinced me that in most cases a SSD from a good brand (intel, samsung, crucial) in general is very reliable, even the consumer grade SSD's.
On a personal note I'm worried as they move to things like TLC flash that may lessen.

After looking a while, I kind of found what I was referencing, but I think I'm getting it confused with a second article I read. ..

I have started with SSD only ZFS pools about three years ago with the first Sandforce based Solidata SSDs (about 40 x 120 GB SSDs). In the first year I had a failure rate of about 7-10%. The replaced ones were much better.

A newer pool of Intel SSD 320 serie is online since more than a year without any failure (webserver, mostly reads). In general I would expect similar failure rates like disks but I would not use desktop SSDs for mor than a few years (I replace mine within three years - the warranty time)

But you should not only look at reliability. Newer enterprise disks like Intel S3700s keeps their good write performace during usage wheras desktop SSDs slow down during use.
