Hello everyone,
I've got my hands on an Intel SE7530JR2 rackmount serverboard with dual 3.6 xeon processors. I really don't know anything about the board other than that. I'm going to need to buy the rest of the components.
I'm going to put this board into a chassis that will reside in a closet in my bedroom (I live in a small condo so I don't have too many choices on location). My problem is that I'd really like to put it in a tower/pedestal chassis becuase I feel that I'd have more control over keeping the system quiet. Allthough I'm not super familiar with the 1U/2U chassis that are designed for this board I do know that they're probably not designed to be cheap or quiet. I see two main problems.
The first problem is that on the back of the board there are extra interfaces where the back of the PCI cards would normall fit through the back of the chassis. The second problem is that the CPUs are located at the front of the board and the board is longer than normal ATX boards. In most ATX chassis I might have drive bays in the way.
Since it's going to be in a closet I don't care too much about how it looks. In fact if I add PCI risers onto the board I'll probably just need to pop off a few of the PCI card covers off of the chassis and have whatever cables I need running into the chassis and then plugging into the PCI cards on the riser internally.
Anyway, I can immagine buying a big ATX chassis and cutting away some stuff to make it work, but I'd really rather find an ellegant solution. Does anyone have any good ideas?
Thanks in advance,
//Rob
