I am not sure if this would be the correct place to ask, but i am going to make the assumption that most individuals that use multi processor systems are familiar with servers and racks.

Anyways, i have been trying to find out if there are mounting brackets that will allow you to mount Compaq/HP rails and servers along with an apple xserve (centrally mounted with brackets), 3 front mount servers and 2 front mount UPS's. I'm nearly positive that the 2u hp server will need 4 points of support(whether it uses its rails or not) since it weighs about 90 lbs. any suggestions could be helpful.

Note to mods- if you feel that this thread would be better addressed in another group, please move it there.

p.s. sorry for the repost, i getting a little desperate in my need fo an answer.

You could have the moderators move this to the Multiprocessing Systems forum. I bet someone there would know.

The monting rails wiht the apple xserv boxes mount in a standard 19" rack. Thats the same rack that you would put a ups in, a compaq server in, or any other 19" equipment. IIRC the apples are long, longer than the dell poweredges so you have to keep an eye on depth.

ment to edit the last post. but hit quote instead..

Do you mean you have xservs in a 2 post rack and you want to mount the ups's and the compaq's in the same 2 post rack. If so, there are mounting brackets available to convert the (well, atleast apc ups's) over for 2post rack usage, or you can move the brackets to the middle. Ive never needed to mount a compaq in a 2 post rack so i cant offer any help there.

i should be able to mount that hp in any 4 mount rack? or no? (that one is really my largest obsticle.)

Should be able to with no problems. At work one of our colo customers uses an xserv which had no problems going into our rack.

its there, and there was no response... :(
Tsk, tsk....one thread, per subject, in the most appropriate forum, please..... I locked your other thread and left a link to this one there. Keep in mind other forums may not roll as fast as G[H], thought the quality of answers is often more on the mark. If you want this thread (or any of your own threads) moved, a PM to me will get it done, pronto.

< end /threadcrap >.......:D
