Server Processor. Which to use?

Anyone know how to solve my IP problem that I posted at the top of Pg 2? I forsee that being a rather large problem in my future-serverness :)

You have cable internet which is tied to the MAC address of the computer that you used to register your service with the very first time.

Your router is probably cloned with that MAC address and your server NIC is not.

Just a shot in the dark here.

I USED to be able to plug my ethernet straight into my cable box and get my Internal IP that way, but for some reason both Win2k3 and XPx64 don't seem to like that and never connect me to the internet. Pissing me off really. I am pretty freaking sure I am going to need to internal IP of my machine if I am going to get any sort of File Server/Web Server going.

Bloody annoying. Thoughts?

Do you know what a private IP address and a Public IP address is? Your paragraph makes no sense. Do you have a router or just a modem?
