ok, this is what my friend said.

he can make a server computer to be the king of gaming.

Stuff include......

2 CPU (from INTEL) + one motherboard + decent video card (lets say 9800 pro) + etc....

CPU each cost about hmm 150-200.

No OCing in this computer

This computer (according to HIM) will be able to play 5 games at the same time and it gives 40-50 FPS in average with MAX SETTING in games like HL2, DOOM 3, WoW, GW, BF2, etc etc.

Is this true?

are you on drugs? are you 12? are you 12 and on drugs?
Sorry man, no it's not true. I don't know how you could play 5 games at once (unless it was a serious multi display setup ;) ) Maybe he is blowing an intel dual core system way out of proportion, as a 9800pro doesn't run ANYTHING (not any of those) at max settings, I owned one until a few weeks ago. Sorry if it was harsh, but come on, is this for real?

That's kind of funny, seeing as AMD processors PR 3000+ and up will usually be able to outperform intel Xeons. Going dual with the Xeons is another thing. But then so is going dual Opterons :D . All of the new AMD X2s getting ready to come out will most likely manhandle any dual Xeon setup. And I can't see any proven evidence that the 9800 Pro will outperform a GeForce 6800 or Radeon X800, let alone run 5 games at max settings. Hell, even 2 6800 Ultras in SLI won't even run 5 simultaneous games at max settings! Tell your friend to quit making up stories and come back to Earth.

Everytime a noob makes a claim like that...

God kills a kitten.

im a little confused by your post.

are you sure he wasnt talking about making a gaming server, where it would host games like HL2, DOOM 3, BF2, etc etc.? That is the only real thing a gaming system would benefit from a dual cpu set up.

and then yes it could host 5 servers, probably more depending on the ram.

I'm pretty sure that someone who is verifying what a friend said about making a server with a 9800 Pro, 2 intel processors(what type by the way? Xeon would be my guess), probably has no idea what they are talking about.

I am also pretty sure that he means playing the games, as he talks about the games running simultaneously with 40-50fps. I also think that his friend doesn't have the slightest clue what hes talking about. Tell him to read a little more about the subject and then see what he thinks.

not to mention that he won't actually be able to play all at one, thus being useless and retarted ;)

anyone else wondering why he is posting about

1. a server machine
2. intel processors

in the AMD Processors board?

The guy is right--well, sort of.

A dual processor configuration of similar vintage to a single processor system will most likely perform better when running two or more games simultaneously. Yes, even the better AMD processors would choke when running two or more games simultaneously.

Is this useful? Is there a real-world advantage to this? I'll leave that up to the thread starter.

because I tried to tell him his so called server king of gaming rig won't have much advantage in max setting gaming but he insists he is right.......so, i will let others to tell him for me :) (cux i told him, if u want to game good, use "AMD" man, not INTEL)

now, that's why I post it here ;)

no, not host games, he said "can play 5 games at the same time" at max setting no lag.

he also said AMD64 generate "SO MUCH Heat", so I should buy Intel instead and buying A64 is a dumb choice <------now, this piss me off the most

understandable. go dig up the data that shows most new a64's running at a very.. liberal 67w as it's MAX TDP, whereas intel can hit >100w TDP without an issue, and that's not a TDP rated for max load ;)

Tell your friend to really start paying attention to those silly egg-in-the-frying-pan This Is Your Brain On Drugs commercials. And tell him to read this thread about AMD processor heat.
