I want to build a low cost file server, and I want it to have ECC memory.

What is the cheapest, reliable motherboard with ECC memory support. Low power usage is a plus, but not my biggest concern. Some expandability (via PCIE and onboard SATA headers) is a must.

AMD or INTEL is OK. I would probably prefer AMD just for the price issue. Will consider pros and cons of each. Performance does not need to be huge, this is for a SOHO type environment.

You can do a low cost and low power server if you don't get ECC memory. I've never had an issue with my file servers running on non-ECC and they are 24/7 load servers. Do you have some sort of very specific need that makes ECC a must?

Anyone know?

All of the Asus boards I've encountered since the 700 series chipsets have supported ECC memory. All of the AMD chips do as well. Depending on how much CPU power or PCI-E expansion you need to will probably be cheaper to go AMD.
