I've heard it's possible to do some tweaking to essentially turn Server 2012 into Windows 8. I've searched but didn't find anything. Anyone know how to do this or where to look for the info?

Probably very similar to the instructions for Server 2008 to a Workstation.

Doable, but why? You don't gain a whole lot, if anything.

    Because it's free on Dreamspark.

Works great as a workstation OS, here are some instructions:

The big ones are the missing App DLLs and the desktop experience (for some reason it's listed as the Themes link).

I guess that's a good reason! If your school is part of the program, you may be able to get the premium sub that gets you Windows 8. I'm running Server 2012 at home because of Dreamspark (TechNet is more for the evaluations and testing).

Why would you do that? Metro is in the BG on 2012.
