Server 2012 Remote FX issue

Host computer has an intel 3930k (C2 stepping) and AMD HD7870 GPU. The Processor is SLAT capable according to Intel's website. So far, so good.

Hyper-V manager's option for making the GPU available for virtual machines is grayed out and complains that there is no GPU meeting the requirements.

UNTIL!! I re-install the GPU driver. Then, so long as I don't restart the machine, my video card is recognized in the Hyper-V manager and I can select it. But then, I get no options to do anything with it. I also can't add RemoteFX to my Windows 8 Enterprise VM. Also, if I try to uncheck the option of making the GPU available to the virtual machines and apply changes, it says that the changes couldn't be applied to the physical GPU.

If I reset the host machine, the option is grayed out again.

This occurs with the AMD Catalyst drivers 12.10 and 12.11 beta.

Does anyone have experience in getting this to work on a non-workstation AMD-based GPU that could provide some assistance??

I may have forgotten to install Hyper-V Integration Services on the guest OS, but I still don't think that will help me, as I can't even configure the adapter yet. Will try when I get home tonight and post back

It came down to having AD Server role installed on the same machine. Once I demoted the machine and removed the AD Domain Services role, I was able to get it working. Wish it was documented somewhere... It is for 2008, but it's rare to see it in a "how to" ...
