Server 2012 reads Server 2008 software RAID?

I moved to WHS 2011 rather reluctantly, trading drive extender for 10 sets of mirrored 2TB pairs using software mirroring just to get some better driver support. I've been testing out 2012 Essentials and am rather fond of how Storage Spaces work - it gives me the best of WHSv1 and WHSv2, and being able to uplift to 2012 Standard and get some virtualization is icing on the cake. Can I expect the existing software raid volumes to be recognized, so that I can execute a slow and graceful transition of data, or do I need to re-stage the data under the assumption that the pairs will not recognize?

I'm installing 2012 on a new boot drive so if it doesn't work, no risk, but was wondering if anyone here had gone through the experience.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, although you will probably have to "import" the "foreign" disks first before they will be recognized.

Worked great - thanks!

Kind of surprised after being away that there's not much buzz on this forum about 2012.
